Some time ago, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially issued 5G commercial licenses to China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and China Radio and Television, and announced that China officially entered the 5G commercial year. According to the previous plans of the three major operators, the 5G pilot of key cities will be carried out in 2018, pre-commercial in 2019, and officially commercialized in 2020.

In fact, when China's 5G construction is accelerating, the domestic key cultural and tourism projects such as Guangzhou Changlong, Guangzhou Rongchuang Wenlv City, and Jiazhao Industry Jinshawan International Paradise have also pre-empted 5G.

—— The dense layout of the cultural tourism project 5G ——

At present, 5G has become a word that people often hear, but most people's concept of 5G is only at the stage of “fast speed”. What is 5G? The data shows that the 5G network is the fifth generation mobile communication network, and its peak theoretical transmission speed can reach 1GB every 8 seconds, which is hundreds of times faster than the transmission speed of 4G network.

The application of 5G is far more than the mobile phone network. In the future, its broad application scenarios will become the source of international active seizure of the commanding heights. As an important application scenario of 5G, many domestic cultural and tourism projects have already begun to lay out 5G, and it is expected to win the opportunity before 5G popularizes commercial use.

For example, on May 17, Jiazhaoye Jinshawan International Paradise Group and China Unicom signed a strategic cooperation agreement, and the two sides will jointly build the country's first 5G smart coastal maritime travel life circle.

In Shenzhen, Shenzhen Happy Valley and Shenzhen World Window are the first to launch the 5G cooperation in Jinsha Bay International Park. On May 16th, Shenzhen Happy Valley and China Telecom jointly launched the strategic cooperation of “China's first 5G+ experience park”; on May 15th, on the afternoon of May 17, Shenzhen Unicom and Shenzhen World Window signed a 5G innovation application cooperation agreement. Launched the construction of the first 5G large-scale cultural theme park covered by 5G.

According to statistics, more than 90% of the projects that have been announced to join hands with telecom operators to build 5G networks have started in the first half of this year, and the actions after April are more intensive. According to the Southern Metropolis Daily, Guangzhou Changlong Resort and Guangzhou Rongchuang Wenlv City have also reached cooperation with China Unicom and China Mobile respectively, laying out 5G networks to build smart tourism. This may be related to the introduction of 5G commercials at the national level at the beginning of the year, and several provinces including Guangdong have introduced the 5G industrial development action plan in the first half of the year.

—— How should 5G be used? ——

When the domestic cultural tourism project was launched on 5G, “smart tourism” was frequently mentioned. “Smart Tourism” is no longer a new vocabulary in the industry. In recent years, governments around the world have generally mentioned the creation of smart tourism cities, while the cultural tourism enterprises have made “smart tourism” an innovative means of project creation. However, the so-called "wisdom" of the cultural tourism project in the past is to use the Internet to release information in a timely manner, so that tourists can understand this information in time, mainly in the wisdom management, tourism service and tourism marketing of tourism. The tourism experience does not realize the real "wisdom". ".

Nowadays, the emergence of 5G technology has enabled the cultural and travel enterprises to place greater expectations on upgrading the tourism experience, and it is more confident that the smart tourism brought by 5G can be said. Judging from the current documentary projects that have announced the construction of 5G networks, “smart tourism” is the cooperation content of most projects. The upgrade of the amusement equipment experience has become the primary task of all the cultural tourism projects for 5G construction, especially in the theme park projects with experience equipment.

Kaisa Jinshawan International Paradise and China Unicom Shenzhen Branch reached a cooperation

Lin Huanjie, dean of China Theme Park Research Institute, said that in the past, mobile communication technology was not used much in theme parks, and it was mainly used in park control systems, management systems, etc., and there were very few applications to amusement equipment, because amusement equipment was mainly Controlled by the control system, the connection with mobile communication is not close.

For the 5G construction plan of the Golden Sands International Park, Zhang Haitao first talked about the 5G technology to bring a new immersive VR experience, followed by the optimization of the park security and park operations. “We will provide 5G network-based augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) park guides and 5G network-based guided robots and unmanned guided tours for the Jinsha Bay project, allowing visitors to experience self-service tours and travel intelligence. Recommend more features."

The “wisdom” created by Shenzhen World Window using 5G is mainly focused on the deeper upgrade of the park project. Window of the World will join hands with China Unicom to complete the construction of the 5G base station of the theme park, realize the full coverage of the 5G network in the park, and rely on the brand influence of Shenzhen World Window and the advantages of tourism resources, live broadcast in 5G+VR 360°, 5G+AR eagle In-depth cooperation on projects such as Eye, 5G+AI Travel Service, 5G+ Social Sharing, Scenic Area Integrated Control, and Scenic Big Data Analysis Platform. Shenzhen Happy Valley said that it will continue to explore and implement the practical application of 5G+ technology in three aspects: smart entertainment, smart service and smart management.

However, the “smart tourism” space of landscape projects is relatively limited. The focus of 5G construction in such scenic spots falls on the smart tourism information platform and basic tourism services. Yuntaishan said that it will accelerate its pace with 5G+VR, 5D+VR, 5G+AI, 5G+AI, etc. The application of smart tourism series enhances the smart tourism management and service level of the scenic spot.

Located in Foshan's 5A-level scenic spot, Xiqiao Mountain also launched Foshan's first 5G tourism cooperation project at the end of last month, aiming to improve the smart tourism management and service level of the scenic spot through 5G technology. The difference is that when visitors wear VR glasses at the experience point, they can remotely view the beautiful scenery of Xiqiao Mountain 360°. But the fixed VR experience is a virtual scene after all. Can it replace the on-site visit experience? This is still a test for VR technology based on 5G.

—— Whether 5G can change the cultural travel remains to be seen ——

If the above cooperation is true for the 5G upgraded cultural tourism project, those projects that preemptively deploy 5G will win the development dividend or even change the competitive landscape of domestic cultural tourism projects. But is 5G technology really mature? Can the 5G technology upgrade experience project be accepted by tourists?

In this regard, Lin Huanjie said that 5G technology will have a certain effect on the theme park upgrade, but don't expect to have a great contribution. At least there is no such idea in China, or even not yet thought about it. “I talked to a number of theme park builders about how they didn’t think about how to use 5G technology to upgrade their theme parks, or they only realized remote control applications.”

From the technical basis, 5G technology has a huge leap compared to 4G, which provides technical conditions for the upgrade of the cultural tourism project. However, the development of equipment technology in this section of the CTS project does not seem to keep pace with the 5G technology. Perhaps this is the main reason why theme park manufacturers “have no idea”.
At present, many domestic travel projects have adopted the “5G+VR/AR” approach to enhance the experience of tourists on amusement equipment.

In Lin Huanjie's view, there will be major changes in the VR equipment of the theme park in the future. “First of all, the 5G network is fast enough, and there are fewer pipelines in the park. This will help the operation and management of the equipment, and the project will be better. Secondly, after the 5G technology is mature, visitors can get rid of the line VR equipment, or even Wearable devices, but 5G applications for large devices remain to be seen."

The application of 5G technology in domestic cultural tourism projects is concentrated on the upgrade of amusement equipment, but can the following equipment hardware and technology keep up? Can these experienced travel companies be able to taste the sweetness of new technologies in the future? Can the powerful 5G break through the existing state of amusement equipment and generate emerging amusement equipment with major innovation breakthroughs? Of course, we still have to put forward good expectations for the future.
